Chain brake / Anti kickback guard
The chain brake operates automatically in the event of kickback. As the guide bar (14) kicks
up, the wrist of the operator’s hand on the top handle (5) knocks against the front guard (6)
causing the front guard (6) to move forward and activate the chain brake.
1. The chain brake can be engaged manually by
moving the front guard (6) forward.
2. To release the chain brake, firmly pull the front
guard (6) towards the top handle (5) (as shown
on the right) until a “click” is heard.
Caution:
Check the chain brake is operating
correctly each time the chainsaw is used.
Bucking spikes
The chainsaw has bucking spikes (25) to assist with
cutting and reduce the chance of kickback, use them
as follows.
Keep the bucking spikes (25) touching the wood you
are cutting. Due to the rotation of the chain, it will
pull the saw into the wood. When the bucking spikes
(25) are touching the timber, it will help prevent any
sudden jerking or kick-back.
