TOOL OPERATION (cont.)

10

Line Guide

For a straight 90º cut, use the cutting guide notch (14) in the baseplate (19). For 45º
bevel cuts, use cutting guide notch (13). The cutting guide notch will give an
approximate line of cut. Make sample cuts in scrap timber to verify actual line of cut.
This will be helpful because of the number of different blade types and thicknesses
available. To ensure minimum splintering on the good side of the material to be cut,
face the good side down.

Switch

Warning!

When starting the circular saw, hold it securely with both hands.

The torque from the motor can cause the tool to twist.

To turn the tool “ON”, depress the lock-off button (2) and squeeze the on/off switch (1).
To turn the tool “OFF”, release the on/off switch (1), which is spring loaded and will
return to “OFF” automatically.

Your saw should be running at full speed BEFORE starting the cut and turned off
only AFTER completing the cut. To increase switch life, do not run switch on and off
while cutting.

Using the laser light

Warning!

Do not stare directly at the laser beam.

Always ensure that the laser light is turned off when the tool is not in use.

Do not, under any circumstances, point the laser beam at any person or animal.

Always ensure that the laser beam is only directed at the work piece.

Do not deliberately direct the laser beam towards the eye of a person for longer than
0.25 seconds, whether the tool is in use or not.

Always ensure that the laser beam is aimed at solid work pieces with non-reflective
surfaces such as raw timber. Transparent, shiny or reflective surfaces are not suitable for
laser use as the laser beam could be directed back to the operator or bystanders
causing injury.

1. Select work piece and mark the cutting line.

2. Select angle and depth of cut on the saw as necessary.

3. Position the saw on the work piece with the front edge of the base plate resting on

the work piece. Ensure the blade is not touching the work piece.

4. Switch the laser light on by depressing the laser light switch (4).

5. Line up the laser light with the cutting line on the work piece.

6. Turn on the motor by engaging lock-off button (2) and squeezing the on/off

switch (1). Allow the motor to reach maximum speed before starting the cut.

7. Maintain a firm grip and slowly push the saw forward without forcing it through the

work piece while keeping the laser guide on the cutting line.

8. When the cut has been completed, release the on/off switch and wait for the blade

to come to a complete stop.

9. Switch the laser light off by depressing the laser light switch (4).

10. Remove the saw from the work piece.
