OWLView for OTDR is a software program that is included free of charge with every OWLTrek II OTDR.
Primary functions of this software include:
– Downloading stored traces from OWLTrek II OTDRs and saving traces in native .OTD format
– View and analyze traces
– Export stored traces to SOR format (version 2)
– Import SOR files (that were previously exported with OWLView)
– Print stored traces
– View traces in real-time while OTDR is set into Live Mode
– Update firmware in OWLTrek II OTDRs
– View helpful PDF and video documentation
OVERVIEW

OWLView for OTDR can be installed onto a Windows PC or laptop from the supplied USB flash drive, or can be downloaded form
OWLs website. This installation will also install the appropriate USB driver.
INSTALLING FROM USB FLASH DRIVE
1)
Insert USB flash drive into a USB port on the PC or laptop (there may be a
short delay while the computer installs the flash drive hardware and assigns a
drive letter to the flash drive)
Depending upon computer configuration, the flash drive may or may not run
the installation program automatically
– If the installation program runs automatically, skip to Step 5.
– If the installation program does not run automatically, continue to Step 2.

Using My Computer, browse to the drive letter created when the flash drive
was inserted (drive letter may vary for different PC configurations)

Double-click the drive letter to view the contents of the USB flash drive

Double-click the LaunchCD installation program
5)
Click “Install OTDR USB Driver/OWLView Software button to begin the program installation.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
INSTALLING FROM WEBSITE

Browse to OWLs website at the following location:

Click the “OWLView for OTDR Software” link to download the software.
3)
Once the software in downloaded, double-click on the installation program.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
