6.3.2 Seat Cushion/Back Padding

The seat cushion and backrest cover are not highly flammable, but there is a possibility they may catch fire.
Therefore utmost caution is required near open flame.

Keep away from any sources of fire, especially burning cigarettes.

Have the seat and backrest cover replaced immediately in the event of damage or wear.
The product is either equipped with a seat and back plate or with seat and back upholstery. Hook-and-loop fasten
ers are used to attach the seat cushion and back padding.
The seat cushion and the back padding ensure pressure relief during use of the wheelchair. They have been
chosen by qualified personnel according to the needs of the user.
6.3.2.1 Removing/Fastening the Seat Cushion and Seat Pad
If the seat upholstery is adjustable, the seat cushion and seat pad can be removed from the wheelchair for clean
ing.
Removing from a Seat Plate
1) Pull the seat cushion up and off the hook-and-loop fastener on the seat plate and remove it (see Fig. 15).

After cleaning:
Put the seat cushion back on the seat plate. The seat cushion is secured against sliding by
being pressed on to the hook-and-loop fastener.
Removing from Adaptable Seat Upholstery
1) Pull the seat cushion off the hook-and-loop fastener of the seat pad (not illustrated).
2) Pull the seat pad upwards from the hook-and-loop fastener of the seat upholstery and remove it (see Fig. 16).

After cleaning:

Secure the seat pad to the seat upholstery by means of the hook-and-loop fastener with edges aligned (see
Fig. 16, item 1).

Place the seat cushion on the seat pad. The seat cushion is secured against sliding by being pressed on to
the hook-and-loop fastener.

6.3.2.2 Fastening / removing the back padding
The back padding can be removed from the wheelchair for cleaning.
Removing from a Back Plate
1) Pull the back padding up and off the hook-and-loop fastener on the back plate and remove it (see Fig. 17).

After cleaning:
Put the back padding back onto the back plate. The back padding is secured against sliding
by being pressed on to the hook-and-loop fastener.
