The patient-specific plaster model has been fabricated.
1) Use the screws (item 9) to mount the bar (see fig. 1, item 10) to the bot
tom section of the lamination dummy (see fig. 2, item 1).
2) Place the foot stirrup (item 7) with the bearing bushing (item 8) in the
lamination dummy cover.
3) Set the cover onto the lower section of the lamination dummy and secure
it with the lamination dummy screw (see fig. 2, item 2). Due to the
design, the foot stirrup with the cover is brought to the neutral position.
4) Attach the lamination dummy to the plaster model by inserting the lamin
ation dummy screw through the cover, foot stirrup and lower section and
screwing it to the alignment insert.
5) Seal the screws of the bar and dummy with Plastaband.
6) Laminate the orthosis according to the patient’s needs.
7) After the laminate hardens, remove the laminated blank from the plaster
model. To do so, expose the lamination dummy with a knife and remove
it.
8) Remove the Plastaband from the screws.
9) Remove the two screws from the bar.
10) Loosen the lamination dummy screws and remove the cover.
11) Use the oscillating saw to expose the edges for removal.
12) Remove the components from the plaster.
6.2 Assembling the joint
Mounting the axial washers
1) Select and insert the axial washers (see the following table for the thick
ness of the axial washers).
2) Optimise the movement of the orthosis joint by replacing the axial wash
ers step-by-step: Use thicker washers if there is play in the medial/lateral
direction, thinner washers if there is resistance in plantar flexion/dorsal
extension.
