The unit must be connected to a minimum 16 amp
dedicated permanent supply complying with cur-
rent IET Wiring regulations, isolation is required via
a minimum 20 amp double pole isolation switch
with a minimum 3 mm separation required. All
electrical wiring should be carried out by a compe-
tent electrician, using a heat resistant cable (mini-
mum 90°C), and be in accordance with the latest IET
Wiring Regulations.
Conductor length - wire stripping
When connecting electric wires to the iQ thermo-
stat: If multiwire, fine wire or very fine wire conduc-
tors are used, the conductor ends shall be suitably
treated. One suitable treatment for the above point
(OSO Hotwater recommends) is the use of DIN
46228-4 Tubular end-sleeves with plastic sleeves
(commonly known as ferrules with insulation), with
a conductor length of 12 mm as shown in the dia-
gram (right).
Follow the manufacturers instruction for the ap-
propriate assembly of DIN 46228-4 Tubular end-
sleeves with plastic sleeve. Use the appropriate
crimping tool with correct jaw profile & jaw length.
For Solid round single conductors, an insulation
strip length of 12mm ± 1 is suitable with no treat-
ment.
Upper diagram (1) shows wire cutting for solid wire,
lower diagram (2) for multiwire.
Cutting the cable wires to the lengths shown will al-
low the thermostat to be removed without discon-
nection of the Line (L) and Neutral (N) wires.
According to IET Wiring Regulations. Every connec-
tion between conductors or between a conductor
and other equipment shall provide durable electri-
cal continuity and adequate mechanical strength
and protection.
