On the floor or on a raised base of less than 4" installation (R value for the hearth
extension required)
In the case where the fireplace is installed directly on the floor or on a raised base of less than 4",
an R value for the hearth extension is required. In these case also, the joint between the hearth
extension and the fireplace (

) must be protected by a non-combustible material. For example, a
sheet metal (not included).
Note that the floor under of the fireplace should match or exceed the height of the floor
protection.
