The auto-calculated background is determined based on a 20 second acquisition. Once a value is calculated,
it is used until either the program is restarted or the background is recalculated.
If you tap the
Calc
button, the software sets a fixed background based on a 20 second data acquisition. To
return to the auto-calculated background, tap the
Back
(
) button to return to the main screen, then re-
enter Mobile Search Mode.
When σC or σY2F exceeds the alarm threshold, a
Sigma C
or
Sigma Y2F
alarm is displayed in dark red at the
bottom of the Mobile Search Mode screen, as shown in Figure 13.

If the gross count rate exceeds 100 cps for four consecutive data acquisition cycles, the message shown in
Figure 14 is displayed. Tap the
Back
(
) button to return to the main screen, then switch to Characterization
Data Collect Mode to acquire data according to the instructions in Section 3.4.
