Fabric Card Distribution
In a less than fully populated configuration, you must install fabric cards in a
particular order, to maintain thermal management. The following sequence is the
placement order for fabric cards:
0, 1, 8, 7, 6, 2, 3, 5, 4
For example, if you are installing 5 fabric cards, install them in slots 0, 1, 8, 7, and 6.
Note –
Where fabric cards slots are vacant, install fabric card fillers.

Fabric Card Handling Guidelines
Fabric cards use high-density XBOW connectors that interface with the midplane
pins. If these connectors are damaged, the pins of the midplane connector can also be
damaged upon fabric card insertion.
You must inspect the fabric card chassis, retainer bolts, fans, and connectors before
installing the fabric card into the switch chassis.
Caution –
Lift fabric cards by their sides. Do not lift fabric cards by their XBOW
connectors or allow the XBOW connectors to strike any object.
