
Servicing the DVD Drive
The SATA DVD drive is mounted in a slot that is accessed from the system's front panel. You
also must detach cables inside the chassis to remove the DVD drive. See
. The DVD drive must be removed from the drive cage in order to service
the drive backplane.
Caution -
Do not operate the server without a DVD drive installed. Otherwise the server might
overheat due to improper airflow.

Remove a DVD Drive
This component must be replaced by authorized service personnel. The server must be
completely powered down before performing this procedure. See
for more information about cold-service procedures.

Prepare for servicing.
a.
Attach an antistatic wrist strap.
b.
Remove any media from the drive.
c.
Power off the server and unplug power cords from the power supplies.
