The 40215 Telephotoadapter converts the
following Opticron telescopes to long
focal length telephoto lenses using SLR,
DSLR or compact system cameras.
Note. You will need a compatible
T-mount to connect your camera body to
the photoadapter.

Equivalent focal lengths

1

:

ES 100 - 1250mm
ES 80 / GS 815 - 950mm
HR 80 - 900mm
HR 66 / MM4 77 - 800mm
GS 665 / IS 70

2

 - 750mm

MM3/4 60 / IS 60

2

 - 700mm

GS 52 / MM3/4 50 - 530mm

1.  Focal lengths listed are approximate

and based on 35mm SLRs. Many
DSLR or compact system cameras
use different sized image sensors so
a telephoto conversion figure must
be calculated separately.

2.  An optional close focus adapter is

available for IS models.

User Instructions
1.  To convert your telescope into

a telephoto lens first remove the
viewing eyepiece.

2.  Screw the telephotoadapter onto

exposed external thread of the

telescope body.

3.   Attach  appropriate  T-mount

to external thread of the
telephotoadapter.

4.  Attach your camera body to the

T-mount.

Notes
1.  If you find the camera is at an odd

angle when attached - the twin
rings on the telephotoadapter or the
T-mount can be adjusted to bring the
camera into line.

2.  Focusing is facilitated on the

telescope.

3.  The camera may need to be

operated in manual mode with
shutter locks disengaged.

4.  The high magnification to aperture

ratios result in slower shutter speeds
compared with conventional
telephoto lenses so choose an IS0
setting of 400. For 35mm SLRs 400
ASA film is recommended.

To improve stability, use a cable

release or remote shutter control if
available.
