CT Burden
Use the
CTBurden
test card to measure a current transformer’s secondary
burden with AC current injection into the load (up to 6A).
To do so, open the circuit as shown in Figure 7, and inject the AC current from
CPC 100
6A AC
output into the burden.
The
IAC
input measures the current that flows into the burden, and the
V1AC
input measures the voltage at the burden.
From these measurements, the burden (in VA) and the power factor cos
ϕ
are
calculated.
This is the preferred method in cases when the current of max. 800A that
CPC 100
can feed into the CT’s primary side is not sufficient.
