BF TYPE 160 Series OPERATION MANUAL

4.1

Insertion

Holding and manipulating the endoscope

The control section of the endoscope is designed to be held in the left hand. The
suction valve can be operated using the left index finger. The UP/DOWN
angulation control lever can be operated using the left thumb. The right hand is
free to manipulate the insertion tube (see Figure 4.1).

Insertion of the endoscope

• To prevent the patient from accidentally biting the insertion

tube during an examination, it is strongly recommended that
a mouthpiece be placed in the patient’s mouth before
inserting the endoscope.

• Do not apply olive oil or products containing petroleum-based

lubricants (e.g. vaseline). These products may cause
stretching and/or deterioration of the bending section’s
covering.

• Do not allow the insertion tube to be bent within a distance of

10 cm or less from the junction of the boot. Insertion tube
damage can occur (see Figure 4.2).
