CHANGE
THE
SILENCE
LAPSE
This function is only enabled in some countries.
Remember that if the
silence lapse
set on the
external
answering machine is shorter
than the one set on the
fax machine, the latter will
never
be able to automatically
prepare to
receive
a document in that the answering ma-
chine is activated first and, if no answering message is heard
within the preset number of seconds,
it closes
the connec-
tion.
At this point, you must
reduce
the
silence lapse
set on
your
fax machine
so that it connects to the line first.
To change the silence lapse set on your fax machine, pro-
ceed as follows:
Until the display shows:

The display shows:

CHANGE
THE
REMOTE
CONTROL
CODE
If the fax machine is connected to an
extension
that oper-
ates in
tone dialling mode
and is set up for
manual
reception
or
automatic reception
with recognition of the
type of call, whenever there is a call from a correspondent
wishing to send you a document, you can
set it to receive
the document by typing the code
* *
on the extension. This
operation has the same effect as pressing the
key on
the fax machine.
You can replace the second "asterisk" of this code using
digits from 0 to 9.
If the fax machine is connected to an
external answering
machine
, we recommend you choose a different digit from
the one used to control the machine from a remote location.
