Troubleshooting

Description of Symptoms

Possible Cause

Corrective Action

Machine will not turn on, no lights

1. No

power

2. Breaker

tripped

3.  Magnetic switch tripped

1.  Check power cable and

power source

2.  Check circuit breaker in the

sander electrical box

3.  Reset the magnetic switches

in the sander electrical box

Machine will not run, some lights
on

1.  Abrasive belt limit switch

tripped

2.  Table limit switch tripped

1.  Make sure the belt is tracking

properly

2.  Move the table manually with

the handwheel to disengage
the limit switch

Machine stops when sanding

1.  Removing too much material
2.  Incorrect air pressure
3.  Drive belt slippage

1.  Move the table down to

reduce sanding load

2.  Set air pressure to

approximately 80 psi

3.  Tighten drive belts

Conveyor belt slips

Conveyor belt tension
incorrect

Adjust conveyor belt
tension

Snipe at beginning of workpiece

1.  Incorrect tension in front

pressure rollers

2.  Worpiece not supported

properly

1.  Adjust front pressure rollers
2.  Support the workpiece

adequately

Gouge at end of board

Workpiece not supported
properly

Support the workpiece
adequately

Sanding belt clogs too quickly

1.  Grit of sanding belt is too fine
2. Sanding

overload

3.  Too much oil, dirt on wood

surface

1.  Replace with larger grit
2.  Reduce sanding load
3.  Clean wood, or use better

stock

Workpiece edges are rounded

Too much material being
removed

Lower the table

Uneven thickness between the
left and right sides of the
workpiece

1.  Conveyor table not parallel to

contact roller

2.  Conveyor belt worn
3.  Graphite cloth and felt pad

on platen are worn
