 Control Panel

There are two sets of control panels on this unit—internal and external. The internal
panel is located under the top cover at the front of the unit and controls choices for
paper handling and printing control.

Internal Control Panel

 Buttons/Keys

FORMS LENGTH:

Defines the page length (0=3 in., 1=3.5 in., 2=4 in., 3=5.5

in., 4=6 in., 5=7 in., 6=8 and 8.5 in., 7=11in.,8=12 in.,9=14 in.).

FORM SET:

Reads the selection from FORM LENGTH dial and sets it into print-

er's memory.

CHAR. PER INCH:  

Sets character pitch to 10, 12, or 17.1 cpi.

LINES PER INCH:  

Selects line spacing at either 6 or 8 lines per inch.

SELF TEST:

When unit is powered on, causes printer to perform a self-test to

ensure that it is working properly.

PRINT MODE:

Selects either data processing (DP) or correspondence quality

(CQ) printing.

External Control Panel

 Buttons/Keys

POWER:

Powers on printer.

CLEAR:

Resets printer once a problem has been cleared.

LINE FEED:

When online, advances paper one line at a time. When offline, acts

as a form feed button and advances paper one page length when pressed.

ON LINE:

Takes printer on or off line.

 LEDs/Lights

POWER:

Indicates when printer is powered on.

FAULT DISPLAY:

Indicates current status of printer. A "0" display indicates

normal operation.

FAULT:

Indicates there is a problem with the printer. Also, sounds an alarm and

displays problem on the status indicator.

ON LINE:

Lights up when printer is on line and ready to receive data.

 Self-test

There are two self-tests that can be done on this unit. One is a standard rolling
pattern test and the other is a horizontal slew pattern test.

Rolling Pattern Test

1.

Take printer offline.

2.

Open top cover and set SELF TEST switch to ON.

3.

Close top cover and press CLEAR switch.

4.

The unit will print an 80 column ASCII pattern the length of the form.

Horizontal Slew Pattern

1.

Turn printer off.

2.

Open cover and set SELF TEST switch to ON.

3.

Close the cover.

4.

Turn printer on and an 80 column horizontal pattern of the ASCII characters
will continue to print until cover is lifted or printer is turned off. Note: On both
self-tests, information about printer is displayed. The first line identifies model
of printer. The second line identifies revision level of firmware. The third line
identifies which optional equipment is installed in unit by placing a "1"

in

option category pattern below.
