Operator Procedures
To change ribbon:
1.
Turn printer off and let the printhead cool off, if necessary.
2.
Lift top cover (a brace will hold it in place).
3.
Slide printhead to middle position.
4.
Pull back ribbon shift lock lever and lift up ribbon shift bracket.
5.
Open ribbon guide rollers.
6.
On ribbon plate, open the cartridge hold down levers. Remove the old ribbon.
7.
Remove ribbon shipping clip (retain this if you plan to move the printer).Open
ribbon arms and lock in place.
8.
Take up slack by turning ribbon feed knob counterclockwise.
9.
Thread the ribbon along ribbon shift guide groove and close ribbon guide
levers. The rollers should now rest on the ribbon.
10.
Pull back ribbon shift lock lever to allow shift bracket to drop in its original
position.
11.
Close hold down levers.
12.
Move printhead back and forth to insure ribbon is threaded properly.
13.
Pull brace towards you and lower top cover.
Error Codes
The following codes are displayed on FAULT DISPLAY, located on the front of
printer.
Common Problems and Fixes
Power Problems
Check to make sure power cord is firmly attached to
printer and receptacle
Check that receptacle has proper voltage
Check if there are any fuses blown (in unit or on
receptacle circuit)
Printing Problems
Check to see if cable is properly attached
Check to see if printer is online
Check to see if host has proper configuration
Check that the printer is not giving an error warning
of some kind
Black Vertical Lines
Something caught in print shield. Remove and clean.
Poor Print Quality
Paper not up to specifications. Ribbon wearing out
Printhead too far away. Readjust
Dots Missing
Printhead adjustment off. Readjust
Cable bad to printhead. Replace
Pin missing out of printhead. Replace
Printer Will Not Feed
Sprocket holes not lined up properly.
Paper path jammed.
Switch 3-4 set wrong.
No Display
No power. Turn printer on.
Connection to circuit board disconnected.
Display bad. Replace.
Blank
No power, internal control malfunction Repeat power on.

Steady- Normal operation Flashing-Print suppress mode in effect.
Normal operation will resume upon receipt of a DC1 code.

Paper end. Reload paper.

Cover open. Close cover. If still on, check cover close sensor.

Printhead temperature alarm. Printer will stop if printhead gets too
hot and will print unidirectionally until it cools down.

Master ROM/RAM error. Cycle power. If it persists, check circuit
boards for possible failure.

Alarm. Something wrong with unit. Troubleshoot and ear error.

Fuse alarm. Blown fuse. Find blown fuse and replace.

Head gap alarm. Replace head gap sensor.

Motor problem. Troubleshoot motor and replace, if necessary.
