Product description

Lightning  current  and  surge  protective  device 
(SPD) for equipotential bonding of power supply 
systems according to VDE 0100-443 (IEC 60364-
4-44)  and  for  lightning  protection  equipotential 
bonding according to VDE 0185-305 (IEC 62305). 

 

–MCF75-3+FS: 3-pin and total arresting capacity 

up to 75 kA (10/350) and 25 kA (10/350) per pin

 

–MCF100-3+NPE+FS:  4-pin  with  N-PE  spark 

gap and total arresting capacity of up to 100 kA 
(10/350) and 25 kA (10/350) per pin

 

–Visual status display on the device

 

–Remote signalling on failure through potential-

free changeover contact

 

–Mounting on hat rail with locking hook

Target group

The device may only be mounted and connected 
by an electrical technician.

General safety information

 

–Before  working  on  power  cables,  ensure  that 

they are de-energised and secure them against 
unintentional switch-on.

 

–Do not mount the device during a thunderstorm.

 

–Comply with national laws and standards, e. g. 

VDE 0100-534 (IEC 60364-5-53).

Mounting the device

WARNING

 

Risk of fire!

 

If the maximum current capacity is exceed-
ed, it can cause a short-circuit and lead to 
a fire. 
With V wiring (series connection), observe 
the maximum current load of 125 A (100 A 
@ UL).

The total connection length of 0.5 m may not be 
exceeded on branch wiring and V wiring (Figure 

).
 Suspended the device on the hat rail and en 

  gage it.

  Observe  the  stripping  length  and  tightening 

torque.

 Connect the cable according to the circuit dia 

  gram for TN-C or TN-S/TT systems. 

Connecting remote signalling

When at least one arrester is disconnected, the 
changeover contact in the remote signalling mod-
ule switches from 11/12 to 11/14. Remote signal-
ling  can  be  switched  as  an  NO  or  NC  contact 
(Figure  ). This allows activation of suitable sig-
nalling components, such as central error mes-
sages, light or acoustic signal.

 

–Connect the remote signalling cables as shown, 

in so doing observing the specified cable cross-
section and the stripping length.

Dismantling the product (Figure  )

1.   Push  the  locking  hook  downwards  with  a 

screwdriver.

2.   Pull  the  device  forwards  and  remove  it  from 

the hat rail.

Maintaining the product

We  recommend  carrying  out  a  visual  check  of 
the visual display every 2-4 years or after light-
ning  strikes.  If  the  integrated  cut-off  unit  trips 
(e.g. due to age on account of multiple, very high 
surge voltages), the display switches from green 
to red.

 

–If the visual display is red, the surge protective 

device must be replaced.

Disposing of the product

 

–Packaging as household waste.

 

–Protective device as electronic waste.
Comply with the local waste disposal regulations.
