Charging the battery
– Connect the plus-terminal (red) of the charger (6)
to the plus pole of the battery.
– Connect the minus terminal (black) (5) to ground,
e. g. frame.
– If the battery was dismantled from the vehicle,
connect the minus terminal (black) (5) to the
minus pole of the battery.
– Select an operating mode (
).
– Insert the plug into the mains socket.
The charging process may take several hours,
depending on the state of the battery and its capacity.
Monitor the charging process via the charge status
indicator (9).
– Stop the charging process when the battery is full
as shown by the charge status indicator.
– Disconnect the mains cable of the device from the
power supply.
– Release minus terminal (black) from ground or
from the minus pole of the battery.
– Release the plus terminal (red) (6) from the plus
pole.
Cleaning and maintenance
Cleaning
– Wipe down the device with a dry or slightly damp
cloth.
– Do not use solvents.
– Remove any deposits from the terminals before
each use.
Maintenance
This product is maintenance-free.
Storage
– Let the product cool before storing.
– Wind up the cable properly when storing the
device. This helps to avoid accidental damage to
the cables and the device.
– Store the product in a dry, well-ventilated place.
Troubleshooting
If something doesn’t work…
Malfunctions are often caused by minor faults. You
can easily remedy most of these yourself. Check
against the following table first before contacting Ser-
vice. You will save yourself a lot of trouble and possi-
bly money too.
DANGER! Risk of injury!
Switch off all
consumers in the vehicle and the ignition of
the vehicle to be started.
DANGER! Risk of injury!
Avoid contact
with moving and hot engine components.
DANGER! Risk of injury!
Always pay
attention to the correct polarity and firm
seating of the battery terminals when con-
necting the device to a battery, and avoid a
short circuit by touching the battery termi-
nals.
NOTICE! Product damage!
In case of
maintenance-free batteries, the charging
process must be immediately discontinued
when the indicator of the charging state dis-
play is on "full". Maintenance-free batteries
are closed. If the charging process is not
stopped, the overpressure valve of the
maintenance-free battery opens during "out-
gassing“. A fluid deficit arises, as it no longer
closes. The capacity is reduced during each
operation, and the battery is destroyed.
NOTICE! Product damage!
The charging
cables must not be extended under any cir-
cumstances!
NOTICE! Product damage!
Disconnect
the battery from the vehicle. This prevents
damage to the three-phase generator. To
prevent damage to the vehicle bodywork,
remove the battery completely.
Note:
Use sufficiently strong metal parts of
the frame to earth the black minus terminal
to ground.
NOTICE! Product damage!
Stop the
charging process:
•
If no progress can be detected on the
charge status indicator over a longer
period of time. The battery may then be
defective.
•
If you detect intense heat generation or
gas formation.
NOTICE! Product damage!
Water must
not penetrate the inside of the product.
DANGER! Risk of explosion!
Avoid
intense heating of the device, (e.g. due to
exposure to sun radiation in the car or vehi-
cle heating).
DANGER! Danger to life and limb!
Improper repairs can result in the product
functioning unsafely. This endangers your-
self and your environment.
Fault/malfunction
Possible cause
Remedy
The device is not charging.
Charging cable mixed up?
Disconnect and switch off the charger.
Then re-connect and the charger and the
terminals.
Residual voltage too low?
Replace the battery.
Connections of the battery oxidised
or soiled?
Clean the connections.
