MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
Cleaning and maintenance work:

Filter cartridge, water treatment sachets and a clean-
ing pad are available as OASE biOrb Service Kit (46014).
Preparing the water
Prerequisite:
Fresh water has been treated with "Water Condi-
tioner" 24 h beforehand and has reached room tem-
perature. Required quantity: Approx. one third of the
aquarium volume.
How to proceed:

1.
Remove the water to be replaced and clean the
aquarium with the cleaning pad for acrylic glass if
necessary.
OASE recommends:
•
biOrb cleaner pump (46025)
•
Cleaning pads (46027, only use the rough side for
particularly stubborn deposits).
2.
Top up the aquarium with the treated water.
Replacing the filter cartridge
N O T E
•
Switch off the aerator pump before commencing
with this maintenance work.
•
Switch on the aerator pump again after completing
the work.
How to proceed:
•
Remove the packaging from the filter medium.

1.
Release the bubble tube from the filter housing by
a quarter turn counterclockwise (bayonet closure)
and remove and dispose of the old filter cartridge.
2.
Release the bubble tube from the filter cartridge by
a quarter turn clockwise and lift out.
3.
Place the bubble tube onto the new filter cartridge
and fasten by a quarter turn counterclockwise.
4.
Insert the bubble tube into the aquarium and fasten
by a quarter turn clockwise.
Replacing the air stone
How to proceed:

1.
Remove the bubble tube and filter cartridge.
2.
Pull off the air stone and replace.
3.
Insert the filter cartridge into the bubble tube and
install the bubble tube.
Checking the non-return valve
A non-return valve is defective if water can flow out of
the aquarium into the air hose.
How to proceed:

1.
Switch off the aerator pump and pull the air hose
from the aerator pump.
2.
Hold this end lower than the water level in the
aquarium.
3.
If any water emerges, it is necessary to replace the
non-return valve.

Replacing the non-return valve
Prerequisite:
•
The aerator pump is switched off and the air hose
has been removed from the aerator pump.
How to proceed:

1.
If the defective valve cannot be removed, cut open
the air hose as near as possible to the defective non-
return valve and fit the new non-return valve there.
2.
Replace the defective non-return valve.

The non-return valve is supplied with the air hose
fitted.
–
Ensure that it is correctly positioned.
3.
Fit the air hose onto the aerator pump again before
switching on the aerator pump again.
