The Preferences page contains the following:

USB Mode

Charge only
— If selected, the MiFi 5510 will only draw power from the USB port. No
communication is possible between your computer and this device when connected
via USB. Note that a standard USB port does not provide sufficient current to power this
device, so the battery will still be depleted.
•
Ethernet over USB
— If selected, an Ethernet (TCP/IP) connection is established between
the MiFi 5510 and your computer. The computer can access the Internet and the Web-
based interface via the USB connection. For Windows XP, drivers must be installed to
enable Ethernet over USB. The link to download and install these drivers is located on the
Home page. If Ethernet over USB is not available, you can still communicate via Wi-Fi.

Automatic shutdown
