How to use this document
The “Overview of hardware tasks” (page 49) contains references to all the
hardware tasks required to install, maintain, and upgrade Passport 15000 and
20000.
Some of the procedures required by a task can be located in another NTP, for
example software configuration procedures will be found in 241-5701-600
Passport 7400, 15000, 20000 Configuration Guide.
Chapters in this document are listed alphabetically.
For more details about how to use the Passport suite of documents, see
241-5701-002 Passport 7400, 15000, 20000 Using New Task-based
Documentation.
What’s new in this document
The following hardware features are added to this document:

•
“An additional version of the lower and upper cooling units” (page 41)
•

Other changes made to this document include the following:

•
changed the installation of power cables for a Passport 15000 or 20000
to first connecting them at the BIP and then routing towards the power
source instead of the opposite
•
added the effect of power cycling to “Risk of equipment damage”
(page 57)
•
updated “Avoiding damage from ESD” (page 59) to include how
handling any non-electronic or non-conductive hardware part can cause
damage by ESD, for example, to an SFP module
