Overview
If advanced GEM functionality is turned off, the GEM behaves in the same
manner as the existing KEM, only the keys provisioned on the M522
extension module are displayed on the GEM with the main terminal’s
feature keys accessible through the main terminal’s feature keys pages.
The exception is the IP Phone 1150E, which does not provide pages of
features on the main terminal.
The option to disable advanced GEM functionality on a terminal type
basis is available on the Terminal Configuration Element Manager web
page. From the web page, select the terminal type from the IP Phone
11xxE Terminal Configuration page. Under Feature Key Attributes is
the GEM functionality option, Enable advanced GEM functionality. The
default parameter is set to Yes, changing the parameter to No disables all
advanced GEM functionality for users on the selected terminal type.
The option for individual users to enable or disable advanced GEM
functionality is available within the User Profile or User Override Element
Manager pages. User Override has priority over User Profile, if the user
does not have a profile, terminal configuration is used.
The M522 line option is assigned to the users LEN through the OSSgate
flow-through provision feature. One M522 line option provides support for
one GEM. Two M522 line options assigned to a LEN provides support for
two GEMs.
The default support for IP Phone 1120E, 1140E, and 1150E is two GEMs
with 22 keys per module. Details of the number of provisioned expansion
modules against a users LEN is available on the CICM Element Manager,
select Users and the Line assigned to that user. Changing this value
without removing the M522 option is not recommended, it would remove
GEM functionality from the user without de-provisioning the users M522
line option. Prior to attaching the GEM to an 1100 Series terminal, turn off
the power to the phone. Once the GEM is attached, turn on the power and
log into the CICM, the GEM feature keys are available.
