Chapter 8 – Installing a new system

Install the cabinet ground wire for the main cabinet and
expansion cabinets (if provided) as described in
“Chapter 10 – Installing the system ground” on page 85
.
Make sure that a minimum #6 AWG ground wire is used.
Tag the main ground connection at the ground source to ensure that it
is not accidentally disconnected.
Make sure to test the ground.

Install the power supplies in each cabinet as described in
“Chapter 11 – Installing the power supply” on page 89
.
Make sure the circuit breaker on each power supply is in the OFF
position.
Check the option switches on each power supply to make sure that
they are correctly set.

Skip this step if this is a single-cabinet system (no expansion
cabinet) and go to

Install and connect the fiber optic interfaces and cable between
the two cabinets as described in

Install the Software Daughterboard and the Security Device on
the NTMW01 SSC Card as described in
the circuit cards” on page 107
WARNING
The fiber optic interface product used in Option 11C Compact is
considered safe. However, as a precaution do not view the optical port
or the end of fiber optic cable. Under certain conditions (such as
during cable testing or under light magnification) the cable or port may
expose the eye beyond the limits of Maximum Permissible Exposure
recommended in some jurisdictions. Do not remove protective caps or
plugs until ready to connect the cable.
