backups without having to travel to remote sites.
Only users with nocadm priviledges can perform backup and restore.
Only one instance of the EDIT window can be active at one time; other
instances of the EDIT window can be in VIEW mode only.
Backup & Restore
Database backup is performed for each controller to record and save the
contents of the database in a separate directory other than that of the controller.
Database restore is performed if a database of a controller becomes corrupted,
to replace the corrupted database with a known good backup database to
enable the controller to resume correct operation.
Backups are typically created at either of two times:
•
recurring —daily, weekly, or other specified period
•
one time — after significant changes have been made to the database or to
the controller environment
The backup directory can include up to nine separate backups.
A restore operation replaces the current contents of a controller database with
the contents of the selected backup file.
The primary reasons for restoring a database are
•
the current database has been corrupted
•
a recent update has introduced problems and a previous version must be
reactivated
•
new hardware has been installed that requires a database
Multiple different backups are maintained for the following reasons:
•
if one backup has been corrupted, another backup can be selected instead
•
each backup is related to a specific time, configuration, and set of
parameters
