Recording and Playing Back Movies
Recording Movies
You can record movies by simply pressing the
b
(
e
movie-record) button. The
settings made for still images, such as hue and white balance, are applied when
recording movies.
• The maximum file size for a single movie is 2 GB or the maximum movie length
for a single movie is 29 minutes, even when there is sufficient free space on the
memory card for longer recording (
A
84).
• When no memory card is inserted (when recording in the internal memory),
Movie options (
A
85) is set to
y
VGA (64 0 ×4 80 ) by default.

Turn on the camera and be sure that it is in
shooting mode.
• Movies can be recorded in any shooting mode (

except Draw scene mode.

movie-record) button to start
movie recording.
• Recording begins after the monitor turns off briefly.
• The camera focuses at the center of the frame. Focus
areas are not displayed during recording.
• When

HD 7 2 0 p ( 1 2 80 × 7 2 0 ) (default setting) is
selected for Movie options (

85), monitor display
changes to an aspect ratio of 16:9 with movie recording
(the area indicated at right is recorded).
• If Photo info in the Monitor settings (

88) in the
setup menu is set to Movie frm+auto info , the area
that will be visible in the movie can be confirmed
before movie recording starts.
• The approximate remaining movie length is displayed.
