Macro Mode
Macro mode is used for taking pictures of objects as close as 1 cm (0.4 in.). Note
that the flash may be unable to light the entire subject at distances of less than
50 cm (1 ft 8 in.).
When using

(auto) mode, follow the procedure below. Macro mode can also
be used with some scene modes (
A
39, 40, 41).

The macro menu is displayed.

The macro mode icon (

) is displayed.
If a setting is not applied by pressing

within a few
seconds, the selection is cancelled.

Use the zoom control and frame the picture.
The camera can focus at distances as close as 1 cm
(0.4 in.) from the lens when

and the zoom indicator
glow green (zoom indicator is positioned near

).

Autofocus
When shooting still images using macro mode, the camera focuses continuously until the shutter-
release button is pressed halfway to lock the focus. A sound will be heard while the camera focuses.
