Table 8-20 PCP supported services
8.3.3
Accessing drive parameters using the PCP objects
The supported objects permit the user to read or write to any parameter that supports
that action, i.e. the user could not write to a read only parameter. Each object will
represent a drive menu numbered from 0 to 200. The user will provide a sub-index
within either the READ or WRITE service to access a specific parameter.
The objects will represent the Menus as follows:
Object = Menu + 0x5000
The sub-index will equate to the required parameter number within the specified menu.
The only exception to this is parameter zero, (Pr
MM.000
) this can be accessed using
the virtual parameter Pr
61.001
. A sub-index value of zero will return an error
(see
Control Techniques defined service error codes
8.3.3.1 READ object
Index:
Menu
Sub-index:
Parameter
The READ object is used to read a value from a parameter within the drive.
No additional data bytes are required. If the read is successful, a success response will
be returned, with four data bytes containing the value of the target parameter.

Function
Category
Description
INITIATE
Context
Management
Opens a PCP connection with the node at the defined
Communication Reference.
ABORT
Closes the PCP connection with the node at the defined
Communication Reference.
READ
Variable Access
Reads a number of data bytes from an Index and Sub-
index reference in the remote device with the defined
Communication Reference.
WRITE
Writes a specified number of data bytes to an Index and
Sub-index reference in the remote device with the
defined Communication Reference.
STATUS
VFD Support
Returns the current state and current operating state of
the remote device at the defined Communication
Reference.
IDENTIFY
Returns the "ID plates" of the device at the defined
Communication Reference.
The following is returned:
Manufacturer_Name: “Control Techn."
Device_Name: "SM-INTERBUS"
Revision: "Version 01.00"
(To maintain compatibility the information returned is the
same as the SM-Interbus)
