UKV 20-220/300/500/750/1000

4. CONNECTION AND START-UP

4.1 Connecti on

4.2 Start-Up

Aft er connecti ng all components of the C/H system, do the

following:
1.  Fill up the C/H system with the heati ng medium.

2.  Check ti ghtness of all connecti ons.

3.  Aft er  checking  for  ti ghtness,  insulate  the  pipelines  to-

gether with the tank fi tti  ngs thoroughly.

4.  Fill up the C/H system with the heati ng medium and vent

the system.

Aft er the installati on and levelling the tank, follow the pro-

cedure below (for the connector pipe numbers, refer to Fig.

4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

):

Filling and venti ng the buff er tank:

Ensure that the enti re C/H system is fi lled with the he-

ati ng medium before heati ng the system up for the fi rst

ti me or aft er a longer break in its operati on.

CAUTION

4.3 Thermal Insulati on of the System

In order to minimize thermal energy losses, insulate all con-

nector pipes, pipelines and temperature sensor covers tho-

roughly aft er the installati on of the unit and performance of

the leak proof test. For this purpose, use thermal insulati on

of correctly selected thickness and thermal insulati on para-

meters.

Lack of thermal insulati on, its incorrect thickness or in-

sulati on made of inadequate materials will cause decre-

ase of thermal insulati on properti es of the unit and the

system.

Informati on

You can fi ll the buff er tank directly from the C/H system or

through the tank drain valve. Vent the tank and the C/H sys-

tem aft er fi lling them. Vent the unit through the vent installed

in the top head of the tank (see Fig. 14.)

Aft er completi on of the above steps, the system is ready for

operati on. You can use the facility heati ng system aft er star-

ti ng up the heat source and reaching the required temperatu-

re of the heati ng medium.

Switch  OFF  the  heati ng  units  and  wait  unti l  the  he-

ati ng medium cools down completely in the C/H system

before venti ng the buff er tank.

CAUTION

4.4 Frost Protecti on

If you plan to interrupt operati on of the unit and there is a risk

of freezing the heati ng medium in the tank, drain the tank and

the enti re heati ng system associated with it completely.

Fig. 14

Venti ng the buff er tank

We  recommend  connecti ng  the  tank  connector  pipes

with the system lines by means of unions to allow discon-

necti on of the tank, if required.

Informati on

INSTALLATION AND OPERATING MANUAL

The  storage  tank  connecti ons  may  not  be  made  of

materials more precious than carbon steel due to the

increased  electrochemical  corrosion.  This  applies  to

connector pipes (fi tti  ngs) contacti ng the tank connec-

tor pipe thread. Preferably, use galvanized connector

pipes (fi tti  ngs.)

CAUTION

1.  Remove protecti ng plugs from the connector pipes.

2.  Connect the supply line from the heat source (4).

3.  Connect the return line to the heat source (9).

4.  Connect the heati ng system supply line (3).

5.  Connect the return line from the heati ng system (8).

6.  Install the required temperature sensors (5).

7.  If necessary, connect the electric heati ng unit to the con-

nector  pipe  (13)  in  UKV  20-300,  20-500  or  (15)  in  UKV

20-750, 20-1000.
