OPERATION
Your NEXUS Amplifier is now ready for use. Before attempting to operate it, however, it is advisable to
familiarise yourself with the functions of the controls and the significance of the indicators.
1. Power Switch: Switches on the Isolating power relay from the mains power supply.
2. Blue On LED: Indicates the amplifier is on.
3. Rotary Gain Controls: Sets the gain volume for each channel of the amplifier.
4.TRIP:
Indicates a the amplifiers protection circuit is operation on this channel.
5. Limiter LED:
Indicates that the limiter is selected
6 Bar Graph Meters: These are Calibrated to indicate the amplifiers performance
7. Mono Mode LED: Mono mode is selected when this indicator is lit.
8. Limit Indicators: These will flash on dynamic peaks when the circuitry is limiting.
BAR GRAPH METERS
3 Colour peak reading Bar Graph Meters are provided to monitor the signals being amplified, thus giving you
a constant warning of excessive peaks in the program material which might cause overloading. Try to keep
the signal level within the amber segments. When the light changes to Red it is indicating full power of the
amplifier has been reached and the onset of distortion. Its not recommended to allow these to light to in the
Red continuously, because although it sounds undistorted to the ear, long term damage to loudspeakers, &
horns may occur. Reduce your input level, so the red LED’s flash occasionally; if this is not enough volume,
then you are under-powered for your application and should consider increasing your systems size before
damage occurs to the rest of your equipment.
LIMITER
A Dual channel limiter circuit is available, it is designed to control the average dynamics of inputted audio, to
stay within the amplifiers headroom and power supply capabilities. This is circuit is NOT compression and does
not ‘Breath’ unlike most other limiter circuits.
MONO MODE
Select either mono or stereo mode can be made at any time, using the button at the rear of the unit. In the
stereo mode, the left and right channels behave independently. In the mono mode the right input sockets are
fed into both the left and right amplifiers. The left input will not function. The yellow light on the front
panel indicates mono mode selection.
TRIP INDICATORS
The red trip indicator LED will light, when the protecting circuitry of the amplifier finds a fault and shuts
down the channel to avoid any damage to the system.
