Troubleshooting
This chapter provides information about troubleshooting the Model FS562/FS566 switch.
Table 5-1
lists symptoms, causes, and solutions of possible problems.

Symptom
Cause
Solution
Power LED is off.
No power is received at
the hub.
Check the power cord connections for the switch
and the connected device.
Check for a defective adapter card, cable, or port by
testing them in an alternate environment where all
products are functioning.
Make sure all cables used are correct and comply
with Ethernet specifications.
Either 10M or 100M Link
LED is off or intermittent.
Port connection is not
functioning.
Check the crimp on the RJ-45 connectors and make
sure that the plug is properly inserted and locked
into the port at both the switch and the connecting
device.
Make sure all cables used are correct and comply
with Ethernet specifications.
File transfer is slow or
performance degradation
is a problem.
Half- or full-duplex setting
on the NETGEAR switch
and the connected device
are not the same.
Make sure the 10/100 Mbps port is set to
auto-duplex (AUTO) mode when connecting the
switch to a repeater or hub. For instructions on
setting the duplex toggle switches, refer to
“Connecting Devices to the Switch” on page 4-4.
