Chapter 4. Web Management Interface

4.1.2 Network Settings
There are two methods of IP configuration available in NP725. LAN interface configuration determines the way to
obtain the IP address by DHCP or manually setup.
Mode
: Determine the way to obtain the IP address, by DHCP or Static.
o
DHCP client
: This option is provided when the users have a DHCP in the wired network, and make
sure the network connection is correct.
o
Static setting
: Static setting is to set these parameters manually. Basic parameters such as IP
address, subnet mask, and gateway are needed.
Primary and Secondary DNS Server
: If any host information in the system is given in FQDN format (Fully
Qualified Domain Name), please ensure at least one of these DNS server is available.
Layer 2 STP
: The Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) eliminates Layer 2 loops in wired and wireless networks. The
access point typically can be configured to bridge several networks.
For example, if it is configured to construct WDS networks, it is possible to get loops in the wireless networks. As
another example, when the two LAN ports are connected to the same LAN environment, it is also likely that
there are loops in the wired networks.
Note:
1.
When Layer 2 STP is enabled, the system will automatically suspend a connection in the networks
once the system detects a loop. If this is the case, one of the network connections could fail.
2.
Please make sure that the other Layer 2 devices (e.g. switch) also support and enable STP, to eliminate the
Layer 2 loops.
