Upgrading Your System 4-9
Remove the top cover or a side panel as follows.
1.
Power off the system and ensure the power cords are unplugged from their AC wall
outlet.
2.
Observe the safety and ESD precautions listed at the beginning of this chapter.
3.
The top cover and side panels are secured from the front edge with two thumb lock
screws. Loosen the thumb screws (see Figure 4-2).

Slide the top cover or side panel toward the front of the chassis about an inch until it
stops (see Figure 4-3).
5.
Pull the top cover or side panel out and away from the chassis.
6.
Set the cover or panel aside for reattaching later.
