Notes

This section describes notes on using COPT-supported model.

5.1

Notes on OS that does not support Dynamic COPT

If Dynamic is specified for Core Configuration Mode (see 2.1 Assigning and Adding Core) and you
enter the code word (to add CPU core) while the OS is running, the Dynamic COPT feature works and
incorporates enabled core in OS. If Dynamic COPT feature works on the OS that does not support this
feature, OS becomes unstable and might stop. If you are using the OS that does not support this
feature, be sure to add CPU core while the OS is halted.

5.2

Notes on Saving of COPT Configuration Information

If you perform steps described in "2.3 Saving COPT Configuration Information" or "3.4 Saving COPT
Configuration Information"
, the COPT configuration information, settings made on web console
including entered code word can be saved in file. If these information is lost due to some trouble, you
can recover the data by restoring the saved file on web console (*1). If the information is not saved in
file, or the information in the file is old, you need to configure COPT again.

(*1)  See "4.3 When the number of cores goes back to shipped state" for how to restore information.

5.3

Notes on Executing Clear BMC Configuration

If you perform Clear BMC Configuration (*1), the configuration is reset to factory-set status, thus the
settings made on web console including COPT configuration information and entered code word are
erased. In addition, code word is initialized and the number of enabled CPU core is changed to 0.

Be sure to restore the file you have saved in "2.3 Saving COPT Configuration Information" o"3.4
Saving COPT Configuration Information"
 on web console (*2).

If you lost the file saved in "2.3 Saving COPT Configuration Information" or "3.4 Saving COPT
Configuration Information"
, you need to reconfigure by using the code word. Keep the code word
carefully.

Enter the clear code word described on Code Word Notification, the code word described on Code
Word Notification, then the code word described on Code Word Return Notification in order to enable
CPU core. When enabling CPU core completes, perform steps described in "2. Before Using
COPT-supported model".

(*1)  Command supported by IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface)

(*2)  See "4.3 When the number of cores goes back to shipped state" for how to restore information.

5.4

Notes on RHEL7.3 or later

If you use Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 or later, be sure to specify Dynamic for Spare Core
Configuration Mode. When not setting Dynamic COPT, OS may fail to startup due to the defect which
inheres in the OS kernel.
