Configuration and Connections
NEC Installation
6. Plug the 15-pin HD connector of the Projector Communications Extension cable
(shown as CC 50') into the PJ Comm port on the System 4
xi
. The other end has
a 9-pin female connector. Plug this into the other 9-pin male D connector on the
NC COM adapter.
______ Secure all of the connector screws.
7. Plug the (4 or 5) BNC connectors from one end of the (user-supplied) RGBS/HV
cable onto the System 4
xi
output and those on the other end onto the matching
BNCs on the NEC connector panel. See cable diagram.
8. Power up the projector and set the projector as follows:
• if your system has less than 10 inputs, set the projector to SW_Level 1 mode
• if your system has 10 or more inputs, set the projector to SW_Level 2 mode
9. Apply AC power to the System 4
xi
.
____________ For the NEC XG: always apply AC power to the projector and place it in Stand-
NEC Memory Assignments
by power before applying AC power to the System 4
xi
. This procedure must be
followed anytime AC power to the system has been interrupted or the CC cable
detached. Failure to follow this AC power up sequence will cause
communication errors.
The following two examples and accompanying tables provide information for
setting up the NEC projector (not the System 4xi). Please refer to the projector
documentation for further details.
The table on the right lists the Extron channel assignments and the
corresponding NEC
host and peripheral
slot
assignments using Extron System Switchers.
The physical location of the Extron channel
assignments will depend on the system
setup.
The tables and charts in the examples below
illustrate System Switcher channel
assignments for NEC models PG, PG+, PGX
and XG.
__________ System 4xi can support a maximum of 22
channels: 1 System 4xi (
host
) looped to
multiple System 10 Switchers (
peripherals
).
