5-16 Chapter 5: Service
Keyboard Cleaning Procedures
NCR USB keyboards are designed for general retail applications. These
products, however, are not resistant to spills, dust, and foreign objects
that may cause keyboard failures.
To maintain proper keyboard operation, users should prevent water,
beverages, or cleaning agents from being introduced into the keyboard
during storage, operation, or cleaning.
To clean your keyboard, use the following procedures:
1.
Turn off power to your PC or workstation.
2.
Unplug keyboard cable from your PC/workstation.
3.
Spray liquid cleaner (such as window cleaner spray or a product
designed for cleaning office computer equipment) onto a soft cloth
to wipe the keys and housing clean. (Do not spray liquid cleaners
directly onto the keyboard.) Let the keyboard dry completely
before reusing.
Use either a
canned air
type office supply product or a small
vacuum to remove dust or foreign objects from between the keys.
4.
When cleaning has been completed, plug in the keyboard cable and
power on the PC/workstation.
