How to Accent a Character (Dead Key Feature)
The d i a c r i t i c a l mark ( a c c e n t ) i s p r e s s e d f i r s t and
s t o r e d i n a b u f f e r , i . e . , t h e r e i s no d i s p l a y o r
c u rso r movement on the screen. When a second key i s
pressed, the two c h a r a c te r codes are compared and,
i f found to be s u i t e d f o r a dead key c o m b in a tio n ,
are d isplayed on the screen.
I f the two c h a ra c te r codes do not match, a "beep" is
sounded; the d i a c r i t i c a l mark is re tu rn e d f i r s t ,
followed by the c h a r a c te r (a box appears in stead of
two d o ts ) .
