External Antenna
GPS signals are mainly transmitted through the windshield, and to a lesser extent, the side and rear windows. If your
vehicle is
fi
tted with an athermic (heat re
fl
ecting) or a heated windshield, GPS signals are not able to pass through the
windshield, and therefore the signals getting to the GPS receiver are greatly reduced or blocked.
An optional external antenna is available to ensure that suf
fi
cient GPS signal is available. This antenna is attached by a
magnet to the outside of your vehicle. It is generally installed on the roof. The cable attached to the antenna must be
plugged into the side of the GPS 4100, as shown in the diagram below. The cable may be threaded through the door
opening. You may purchase this through your Navman retailer.
