17 Insta ll ing the Water Heater
3 . 2 Mounting the W ater Heater to the
W all
Navien NPE-AWE/NPE- S WE water heaters c ome with an upper
mounting bra c ket that is pre-dri ll ed at 400 mm on c entre for
easy insta ll ation on standard wa ll studs. If the strength of the
wa ll is insuffi c ient or if the framing is non-standard or uneven,
reinfor c e the area before insta ll ing the water heater. Avoid
insta ll ation on c ommon wa ll s as the unit wi ll make some
operationa l noises whi l e it is running.
T o mount the water heater to the wa ll :
1 . Affix the bra c ket se c ure l y to the wa ll and ensure that it is
l eve l and that it c an support the weight of the water heater.
2. A l ign the grooves on the ba c k of the water heater with
the tongues on the mounting bra c ket and hang the water
heater on the bra c ket.
When mounted with the mounting bra c ket, the water
heater wi ll have a 20 mm cl earan c e from the ba c k of the
wa ll .
WARNING
The water heater is heavy. A l ways l ift the unit with
assistan c e. Be c arefu l not to drop the water heater whi l e
l ifting or hand l ing it to avoid bodi l y injury or damage to
the unit.
Do not rest the water heater on the bottom end after
removing it from the shipping c arton. Doing so may
resu l t in ex c essive pressure on protruding pipes and
resu l t in produ c t damage. If you must put the water
heater down, l ay it on its ba c k or put it inside the
prote c tive shipping base.
DANGER
T he water heater must be mounted on a suitab l e wa ll
that c an support its weight and prevent exp l osion or fire.
Do not insta ll the water heater near paper or other
flammab l e obje c ts.
Do not insta ll the water heater near domesti c waste.
