it is in pass-through mode; all parallel port activity from the host computer
is routed to the pass-through parallel port. The NI-488.2 driver switches
the GPIB-1284CT into GPIB mode when a device or board is put online.

the Software .
The parallel-to-GPIB conversion circuitry is implemented in a
field-programmable gate array, which you can reconfigure with the
ctupdate
utility. For more information, refer to Appendix A, Updating
Your Firmware . As parallel port standards evolve, National Instruments
provides updates to keep your hardware and software up-to-date.
