INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

The backdraft damper must:

  Be mounted vertically, tab end

down, immediately off the appliance or immediately after the elbow when
venting off the side.  (Not required when taking off the bottom of the unit)
Some prefabricated chimney systems may require side venting.
1.  Turn off any electrical power to the appliance.
2.  Remove the top louvers.  Decide on a top or side installation and remove
the corresponding duct cover plate from the appliance.
3 a.  TOP INSTALLATION:  Cut the insulation, remove the inside top knock
out, remove the heat shield knock out.  Insert the backdraft damper, as

shown, until rib touches
the top of the fi replace.
Bend out the tabs to
secure the damper.
3 b.  SIDE
INSTALLATION:  On an
8” diameter, 90º stove pipe elbow, cut and bend out 4 tabs.  Secure, facing up,
to the appliance side re-using the screws that had held the duct cover in place.
Attach the backdraft damper.
4.  Check that the backdraft plates will freely fall back into the closed position
before adding duct work.
5.  Duct work may now be added to the damper and secured with 3 screws.
6.  Locate the blower in a convenient location.  The blower may be installed
vertically or horizontally using brackets provided; a horizontal installation
located away from the ceiling may use plumber’s strapping.  Connect the
blower inlet side to the duct work coming from the backdraft damper.
7.  Duct work may now be run to individual rooms.  A maximum of six 5”
diameter or fi ve 6” diameter runs may be installed.
8.  Wire in the blower as shown in the schematic.
9.  Complete the appliance and ducting enclosure according to the appliance
installation instructions.

The factory installed variable speed switch is to be used for the blower.  If fan kit NZ62 is used, a second variable speed
switch will be required.  The wall mounting bracket is supplied for wall mounting, if desired.

NOTE:  REMOTE VENTING OPTIONS MAY COME
OFF THE SIDE OR THE TOP IN ZERO CLEARANCE
INSTALLATIONS BUT MUST EXIT FROM THE
SIDE(S) ON MASONRY SYSTEMS.
