Bridging – Multicast Addresses Continued…
After adding a Multicast Group Address, it will appear on the main list and will show the associated ports
that go along with that address.
Following the Remove button on the example above, the administrator will be presented with a list of
Multicast Group Addresses that are configured on the switch. Using the pull-down menu, the administrator
should select the desired address to be removed. Then click on the Remove button at the bottom of the
page.
Note:
If there are multiple ports on different VLANs, the N-Tron switch will apply the static multicast
address to the lowest VLAN-ID that is associated with one of the ports assigned to the static
multicast address. So if the lowest VLAN-ID contains all the ports assigned to the static multicast
address (an umbrella VLAN), it will function for all those ports with no problems. This can be
achieved with overlapping VLANs.
