Remote Control

 

The remote control uses an invisible infra-red light beam, its front edge must be pointed directly towards 
the MERLIN, without visual obstruction between them. 

MUTE  

The MERLIN can be muted through the remote control at any time.  Press the MUTE button (crossed 
out speaker symbol) on the remote, and the speaker and pre outputs will be muted. The STATUS 
light changes to RED. Press the MUTE button again to cancel the mute and resume listening. 

POWER 

The power button on the remote control operates in the exact same way as the power button on 
the front of the Merlin. 

PHONO / AUX 

Selects PHONO input (INPUT slide switch on rear of  MERLIN  set  to  PHONO).  AUX  is  selected  if  the 
INPUT slide switch is set to AUX. 

JACK / OPT 

Automatically senses if the input connected is JACK (analogue) or OPTICAL (digital) 

USB 

This button will select the USB input. 

Bluetooth 

This button will select the Bluetooth input. 

 
If the range of the remote control greatly decreases, replace the battery.  

Replacement battery, 1 off CR2025 button cell 

Please dispose of used batteries in accordance to local regulations. 

 

Bluetooth pairing and connecting 

To connect any Bluetooth device the MERLIN: 

 Pairing 

Make sure MERLIN is switched ON and Bluetooth aerial is plugged in.  
Access the Bluetooth menu on the required phone or other Bluetooth device. 
Access the list of locally available Bluetooth devices on the phone or Bluetooth device 
Select “MERLIN” from the list. 
Proceed with relevant steps to pair MERLIN. If device asks for a code, use “1234”  

Connecting 

On phone or Bluetooth device find list of known Bluetooth devices 
Select “MERLIN” from the list of paired devices and follow device procedure to connect. 

Disconnecting 

To disconnect currently connected Bluetooth device, Make sure Merlin is on and Bluetooth input is 
selected. Press and hold volume control in. MERLIN will MUTE and STATUS LED will light red. The 
BLUETOOTH LED will flash to indicate device is disconnected.  

Clear all devices 

To clear all familiar Bluetooth devices from Merlin memory, disconnect current device as above, 
then press and hold in volume control for five seconds a second time. Press and hold volume 
control in. MERLIN will MUTE and STATUS LED will light red. The BLUETOOTH LED will flash to indicate 
previously stored devices are cleared.
