Special measures are required to decommis-
sion the engine/vehicle.
Information about batteries: if the engine/
vehicle is to be out of use for longer than three
weeks, disconnect the negative terminal on
the battery. This prevents the batteries from
being discharged by no-load current consum-
ers.
If the engine/vehicle is to be out of use for a
longer period, remove the batteries and store
them in a dry and well-ventilated area.
Recharge batteries every 3 months at the lat-
est.
Ensure that there is adequate ventilation
when recharging. Check the battery fluid lev-
els before and after charging and if necessary
correct them. For further information

Decommissioning for up to 6 months
When decommissioning an engine/vehicle,
keep it in a covered, dry and well-ventilated
area. The room temperature should not fall
below -10 †.
Measures prior to decommissioning:
R
Clean the engine/vehicle thoroughly.
R
Remove any patches of corrosion from the
engine.
R
Change the engine oil and oil filter if the last
oil change was carried out more than
20,000 km (or around 300 operating hours)
ago.
Also change the engine oil and filter if the
oil is more than 12 months old.
R
Check and adjust the level of coolant or
renew coolant.
R
Check and adjust the concentration of anti-
corrosion/antifreeze additives in the cool-
ant.
R
Top up the AdBlue
®
/DEF tank until it is full,
to prevent AdBlue
®
/DEF from crystallising.
R
Drain the water separator for the fuel sys-
tem.
Measures during decommissioning:
Start the engine at least once a month and
leave it running for 15 - 30 minutes at approx-
imately 900 rpm.
Depending on the vehicle equipment:
R
with the air-conditioning system switched
on
R
with the heating activated
R
with the auxiliary heating switched on
The monthly engine start can be omitted if the
engine was operated with FAME-free fuel (B0
diesel fuel/without bio-diesel content
1
) and
subsequently decommissioned.
The engine oil level and the coolant level must
be checked before every engine start. On
vehicles/devices with a water separator on
the fuel filter or fuel prefilter, additionally
drain the water separator, if necessary. Upon
starting and while the engine is running,
observe the oil pressure as well as the coolant
temperature.
Measures prior to recommissioning:
R
Fit and connect the battery.
R
Check that the electrical system is func-
tioning correctly.
R
Check cables, hoses and lines for tears and
leaks.
R
Check the engine oil level.
R
Check the oil level in the steering and
hydrostatic fan drive.
R
Check the coolant level and correct it, if
necessary.
R
Check AdBlue
®
/DEF level.
R
Check the fuel level.
R
Start the engine and leave it running at
medium engine speeds until it is at operat-
ing temperature (coolant temperature).
While doing so, observe the indicators for
