2 DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION OF THE SYSTEM
The System is a local marine automatic telephone system suitable for shipboard
use.
The System operation is based on automatic switching unit (central unit) which
divides telephone system into internal and external, and switches calls and connections
among user lines. Connected internal user terminals form a common telephone system
(user lines), i.e. internal system. Within internal system the central unit assigns a unique
number to every user line; connected to the corresponding user lines UTs dial this number,
ensure addressed connection with each other and communicate in two-way mode.
Connection of external lines to coastal communication lines allows for access to
external telephone system (urban telephone network).

Figure 1.
