For thorough control of flying insects in your yard and patio area, a two step program is recommended. In following
this program, be sure to mix your spray according to the directions on the manufacturer’s package. Do not concentrate.
Then, after filling the container, turn the selector valve to “heavy” or pressurized setting and turn the control hub of the
hose end to the heavy setting. Spray all shrubbery, dense foliage and low tree branches in the area for full penetration.
It is important that you keep the spray pattern moving constantly to avoid over application on any area because of the
Atomist’s highrate of coverage. Next, with the selector valve turned to fine (unpressuirzed) setting, adjust the discharge
control to the low setting and fill air space with insectcide. If there are any noticeable air currents, be sure you are
facing away, or down
wind from the air motion. A preliminary trial with water will enable you to tell very quickly how long it will take to
blanket the area you may want to treat.
AFTER USE
When the Atomist is switched off after spraying, the syphoning action may continue for a moment, resulting in
discharge of a solid stream of spray material. To prevent this, tip the nozzle up straight just as you switch off the motor.
This will flush spray solution remaining in the discharge line back into the solution tank. To store the Model 1026A
Atomist or to change spray materials, detach the sprayer from the canister and turn it on to flush out any spray
material. The sprayer should be emptied of any unused spray solution and the canister should be washed after which it
should be remounted onto unit. After use with wettable powders, detach the canister, immerse the supply tube in clear
water and flush until no residue can be seen in the supply tube. Wash the canister thoroughly.
USE OF CONCENTRATE SPRAYS
As a general rule, where the requirement is to spray a small area, a few plantings or a small group of ornamentals for
example, there is little need to make a concentrate spray mix since often a thankful (2 gallons) of solution mixed
according to standard package directions will provide needed coverage. With the Atomist’s high rate of discharge,
standard mixes can be applied over limited areas so quickly that concentration is not of primary importance.

Be sure in all cases that the quantity of pure chemicals (technical materials) to be applied over a given area in
any spray solution is no greater than the quantity specified in the directions furnished by the manufacturer of the
pestcide in question for that same area. In no event should the recommended quantity of pesticide per unit of area be
exceeded.

Since concentrations of certain chemicals may be injurious to some plantings or ornamentals, it is strongly
recommended as a measure of careful use that a preliminary test spraying of a sample area or a sample planting be
conducted in advance of any general spraying activity. To avoid over application or plant injury, concentrate spray
mixes are not suggested when heavy wetting sprays are desired on plant surfaces. Variable external factors such as
wind, temperatures and other climatic conditions that may prevail at any given time, can also, affect spraying results to
a marked degree.
