There are four major functions in software utility: “Format Disk”, “Configuration”,”Safety eject”,”
Security Logout”. As their names said, “Format” is the format tool, “Configuration” is where you
can change some options, “Safety eject” keep you away from data loss, and “Logout” is the reverse
function of passwd.exe. Because these functions are proprietary, you can’t see them when right click
on other disks, even other vendors’ USB disks.
Versions of Windows are quietly different with each other; some functions in software utility are
disabled because some versions of Windows don’t support those functions. For example, you can’t
make bootable Gripio USB disk in Windows 2000, but you can do this in Windows 98 & ME. You
can do basic file management or even format Gripio by windows default “Format” function without
installing software utility, but you will miss some advanced features like “PC lock” and “Dynamic
disk partition”… and so on.
4.1 Password Security
Documents stored in Gripio maybe very import for you or your company. Once you lost Gripio, to
make sure nobody can access the documents stored in Gripio could be major concern of you.
Password security is the default setting of Gripio, you can
re-format Gripio to disable it. By
the way, we suggest that your password should have 8-characters, combination of uppercased and
lowercased alphabetical and digits, this is a good way to prevent someone happen to find out your
password by guess.
