Long Range Point-to-Point
Scope
In the Inband Long Range Point-to-Point Topology, which uses DWDM, (example shown in
Figure 35), up to 8

channels can be created across the network. This means that up to 32
ESCON lines can be interconnected with this network topology – four per channel. The maximum
operating range is up to 100 km or 62.1 mi.
Four LDx00s in point-to-point topology may be used instead of two as shown in
Figure 35 . In
such a case, up to 16 ESCON lines can be interconnected. In each LDx00, a Transponder
module is required for each ESCON Multiplexer Module, and one Mux and one Demux module.
