MAINTENANCE
V-BELT
Visually examine the V-belt (Figure 28) and determine if it
is full of tiny cracks, frayed, has pieces of rubber missing,
is peeling or otherwise damaged.
Also, examine the belt and determine if it is
oil soaked
or
"
glazed
" (hard shiny appearance on the sides of the belt).
Either of these two conditions can cause the belt to run hot,
which can weaken it and increase the danger of it breaking.
If the V-belt exhibits any of the above wear conditions
replace the V-belt immediately.

BATTERY
The standard battery installed is a maintenance-free
battery. It is not necessary to supply battery fluid. In case
of a sudden voltage drop, the battery cannot be charged
quickly, so it has to be replaced with a new one.
Checking Battery Capacity
1. Check the battery checker on the hour tachometer

NOTICE
If an old battery is used, even when the battery checker
is not lighted (indicating low charge), the cell starter
might not operate because of low charging level. If that
happens, change the battery with the new one.
