General Operation
Liquid Crystal Display (LCD)
The LCD provides an 900 square millimeter color display with user-adjustable
contrast settings for optimum readability in all light conditions. The large bit-
mapped 96 x 65 pixel display includes up to 4 lines of text, 1 line of icons, and 1 line
of prompts.
Display animation makes the phone’s icon menu move smoothly as the user scrolls
up and down.
Figure 2 shows some common icons displayed on the LCD.
1.
Signal Strength
shows the strength of the phone’s connection with the
network. Calls cannot be sent or received when the “no signal” indicator is
displayed.

In Use Indicator
icon indicates a call in progress.
3.
Roam Indicator
icon appears when the phone uses another network system
outside the user’s home network. When leaving the home network area, the
phone roams, or seeks, another network.

Message Waiting Indicator

appears when the phone receives a text mes-
sage.

Voice Message Waiting Indicator

icon indicates when the phone receives
a voicemail message.
6.
Battery Level Indicator
shows the amount of charge left in the battery.
7.
Real Time Clock
shows the current time.
8.
Menu Indicator
provides access to the phone’s main menu.

Whether a phone displays all indicators depends on the programming and services
to which the user subscribes.
